Often described as an intense, bitter flavor, Red Eye Gravy remains a southern tradition and desired by many. Growing up southern, breakfast had to be hearty, filling and warm. Traditional southern breakfasts include, eggs, creamy grits, country ham, bacon and/or sausage, drop biscuits and red eye gravy. Grandma Julia always had biscuits and gravy and greens and gravy ready to enjoy any time of the day. Red Eye Gravy was a staple gravy at every Sunday dinner.
